Submissions for Late-Breaker Sessions are Now Closed
THE RIT/JATA STUDENT LATE-BREAKER SESSION ON LUNG HEALTH
The Union World Conference on Lung Health is pleased to announce The RIT/JATA Student Late-Breaker Session focusing on lung health. The Late-Breaker is made possible with the support of the Research Institute of Tuberculosis of the Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association (RIT/JATA). The Union World Conference will be held from 15-18 November 2023.
All aspects of lung health are welcomed for presentation during the late-breaker session, from basic science in immunology and vaccines, to operational research in tuberculosis (TB), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pneumonia, and other lung health issues in adults and children. This session will consist of oral presentations followed by live Q&A.
Individuals submitting an abstract must be currently enrolled as a student in a university programme at undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral level either full- or part-time.
In keeping with the spirit of a late-breaker session, we ask that only new, innovative and significant findings of broad interest that have occurred after 13 April 2023, or for which information has just become available, be submitted for the late-breaker sessions.
Abstract Submissions
All abstracts must follow the abstract submission guidelines. Abstracts must include specific data and results. Abstracts that do not contain specific results, or that were previously submitted to this conference, will be disqualified.
During the submission process, the persons submitting abstracts will be required to provide:
- Confirmation that the work has not been previously submitted for consideration to the general portion of the Union World Conference
- The date by which the work and analysis were mostly completed
- The address, phone and e-mail address where the author may be contacted
All submitted abstracts will be scored by multiple peer reviewers. Persons submitting abstracts will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance of their abstract by mid-August 2023. Note that decisions of the abstract review committee are final and cannot be appealed.
Authors submitting abstracts for this late-breaker session must be students. They will be required to provide a proof of their student status by uploading a file containing an enrolment certificate and a student identification card confirming their status during the submission process. Abstracts submitted without these supporting documents will not be considered for review.
THE UNION/CDC LATE-BREAKER SESSION ON TB
The Union World Conference on Lung Health and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are pleased to announce a late-breaker session related to tuberculosis (TB).
This late-breaker session includes all aspects of TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment research (including basic and clinical science, epidemiology, social, behavioural, and health care delivery). Given the global COVID-19 pandemic, we will also consider select presentations that explore the intersection of COVID-19 and TB prevention and programmatic implementation. It will consist of 7 in person oral presentations of 10 minutes each and Q&A at the end of the session.
In keeping with the spirit of a late-breaker session, we ask that only new, innovative and significant findings of broad interest that have occurred after 13 April, or for which information has just become available, be submitted for the late-breaker sessions.

THE UNION LATE-BREAKER SESSION ON COVID-19
The Union World Conference on Lung Health is pleased to announce The Union late-breaker session on COVID-19.
All aspects of SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19-related lung health are welcomed for presentation during the late-breaker session, from basic science in immunology and vaccines, clinical trials for vaccines or therapeutics, to operational research in adults and children.
This session will consist of up to seven in person presentations of 9 minutes each, followed by Q&A.
In keeping with the spirit of a late-breaker session, we ask that only new, innovative and significant findings of broad interest that have occurred after 13 April, or for which information has just become available, be submitted for the late-breaker sessions.

HIV-TB AND OTHER COMORBIDITIES LATE-BREAKER SESSION
The HIV section of The Union in collaboration with the WHO HIV department, are pleased to announce the HIV-TB and other comorbidities late-breaker session at the Union World Conference on Lung Health 2023.
The late-breaker session includes all aspects of HIV-TB including basic and clinical science, epidemiology, health care delivery, public health, economic modelling as well as social, behavioural, psychosocial, and educational aspects. As comorbidities are increasingly relevant to tuberculosis (TB), they are also included although the emphasis will be on HIV-TB. This late-breaker session will consist of eight oral presentations of 9 minutes each, followed by a Q&A.
